Small Groups - Fall 2016
ReEngage – A 16 week group study that helps couples examine God’s design for marriage and apply biblical principles to facilitate growth in their relationship. Any marriage can benefit. Starts September 8. Leaders: Bill and Fran Patterson
Counterfeit Gods – An 8 week co-ed group which will work through a curriculum based upon Tim Keller’s book, Counterfeit Gods. This study will help us identify and dismantle the idols that we depend on to give our life meaning or provide the security, safety and significance we crave. Starts September 8.
Shame, The Soul’s Great Enemy – Shame is everyone’s nemesis. Its power to diminish us and rob us of joy and energy for life lurks everywhere, at all times. But we don’t have to live as its victim. We can learn to identify this enemy, recognize its intent to harm us, and develop “shame resilience.” That’s the goal of this 6 week course that will rely on scripture, as well as authors such as Brene’ Brown, Curt Thompson and David Allen. Together we will learn and practice ways to beat back shame and reclaim the life of courage and confidence Jesus died to give us. Starts November 10. Leader Jan Winebrenner
Step Studies – Gender specific small groups work through the discipleship process of the 12 Steps for healing and transformation. Begin September 8.
Women’s and Men’s Open Groups – These small, ongoing gender specific groups allow you to join others struggling with any issue in their lives.
Recovery for Life is founded on
and committed to these Guiding Principles:
- Our Higher Power is Jesus Christ. It is our goal to honor and glorify Him in all that we do - in our worship, in our teaching, in our testimonies, in our small groups, in our step studies, and in our fellowship. We praise Him for His mercy and grace.
- The Word of God is our guidebook and authority. When in doubt, go to the source of authority, the Holy Scripture. As a ministry of Northwest Bible Church, we are established under and are subject to the authority of the elder board.
- Anonymity and confidentiality are an absolute commitment and are essential to our "safe place."
