Sports & Fitness Operations Coordinator
I am honored to be on staff at Northwest Bible Church as the Sports and Fitness Operations Coordinator. My love for sports and fitness began while participating in athletics from junior high through college, and in 2010 I ventured into yoga which inspired me to become more aware of my overall health and wellness. Previously, I worked in Human Resources and have found my past work experience to be very transferrable to where God now has me. God has provided me with many wonderful opportunities, including marrying the most handsome and supportive man who always encourages me to depend on Jesus Christ.
I grew up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus as my Savior at age eight, but still, I struggled with understanding that Jesus’s death on the cross could cover all my sins. I intentionally began walking with Christ in my early twenties as I began to feel the Holy Spirit convict me of my sins, but as promised, he did not leave me in my sin. He has shown me the meaning of surrendering to His will and sovereignty, rather than patterns of anxiety-related and fearful behaviors. I have learned that apart from Him I can do nothing. This shift in my understanding of who God is, and recognizing that He provides us with opportunities to glorify Him through our ministries, inspires me to share my experiences of desperate dependence on Jesus through yoga and fitness.
My husband and I enjoy spending time working out together, watching movies and sports, and loving on our rescue dog, Biggio. Yes, he is named after Craig Biggio; go Astros and Texans (and Red Raiders, of course)! We have been blessed with a wonderful church family and small group at Northwest. Recently, God has revealed Romans 7:18 to me, which reminds me that without a daily walk with Christ, my life will be unmanageable because of my sinful nature. Also, I like to lean on the words of the Serenity Prayer, remembering that He will make all things right if I just surrender to His will.
