Refugee Ministry Director
I am honored to serve as the Refugee Ministry Director at Northwest Bible Church. I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology, and from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Master’s in Social Work. I currently hold a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) license with the state of Texas. Prior to Northwest, I worked for 3 years at a non-profit in South Dallas managing a federal grant as well as external non-profit partnerships, and for 4 years with Cru’s (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) humanitarian aid arm Global Aid Network (GAiN) working with internally displaced persons and refugees. God truly orchestrated my life, as my previous work weaves succinctly into my role at Northwest. I’m thrilled to be serving with an awesome team in Vickery!
I don’t remember a time that I didn’t know who Jesus was: I attended church anytime it was open, as well as attended Christian primary and secondary schools. I accepted Christ in the 2nd grade. A decision which was mostly due to a very well intentioned “fire and brimstone” themed lesson and felt board my 2nd grade teacher set up that afternoon, which consisted of felt flames. I spent the next several years following a legalistic view of Christianity. Due to hardships and the tiring road of “doing the right thing”, I had made the decision to leave the church. But in college, I got invited to Cru’s weekly meeting at Oklahoma State University. That’s where I met Jesus. I had never known grace, joy in obedience and dependence, or what it looked like to be follower of Christ. From that point on, I knew I wanted to live my life for Jesus, not myself.
My best days are spent laughing with my husband, Adam. I love humor and laughter, and truly found someone that keeps me endlessly entertained. We love rooting for Virginia Tech and Oklahoma State football on Saturdays in the fall, and walking our rescue dog Maggie. I enjoy a well-placed pun and a great meal spent lingering over conversation with good company. I love having friends and family in our home, traveling, antique hunting, reading, learning new things, listening to music, and trying new restaurants in Dallas.
