Description

Volunteers assist refugee students enrolled in our After School Program (grades K-8) with their daily homework. After they finish homework, volunteers play games with students and build friendships. We often have special guests visit the After School students and have special celebrations for holidays! By working with our after school program, you are empowering children and youth to begin the process of learning how to live in a new culture. And as you meet kids where they are, you are helping them to establish a pathway to success in life and engage in conversations about Jesus.

This program runs Monday–Thursday, from September into May. There will be two 45 minute sessions (K-3rd and 4th-8th grade). In light of COVID-19 restrictions and DISD decisions, we are still working on whether this time with students will be in person, online, or a combination.

NOTE: Background checks are run on all volunteers prior to working with our refugee neighbors.
