Most refugee families arrive in the US with nothing more than the clothes they are wearing. Government support lasts only six months: after that, refugees are expected to have learned enough English and American culture to maintain a job sufficient to support their family.

It's not always that simple.

Once a month, the Northwest Community Center offers essentials like diapers, personal hygiene products, and basic home items to aid refugees materially.

Our goal by providing a supplement of these necessary items is to empower refugees toward independence in their life as we invite them to know Jesus.

Our vision for Resource Distribution is to build relationships with refugee families in the local community while meeting some of their physical needs. We want them to see the NCC as a safe space they can trust and ultimately put their hope in Jesus.

 How Can I Be Involved?

  1. Resource Distribution: We are looking for groups and families with a passion for people to connect with families, assess their needs, and distribute resources. Childcare is available by request for children 5 and under. Sign up to serve here.
  2. Organization: We are looking for volunteers with a passion for organization to help us sort and take inventory as new items arrive every week. We organize the Resource Room on Thursdays from 10:00am - 12:00 pm. You can sign up here, but you are welcome to come in during that time to help us sort.
  3. Baby Shower: One of our newest additions to Resource Distribution that we are very excited about is having a baby shower at each distribution for the women who are having babies in the next month. Read more details about how you or your group can host a shower here.
